Frequently asked questions

Season, guests, boats, membership — the things prospective members ask us most.

East Twin Lake at dusk from the club beach

The season runs from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, and the grounds are open daily. Lifeguards, the snack bar and the tennis program keep their own hours, which are posted at the club and emailed to members.

In the peak summer season the snack bar serves lunch seven days a week, with a lighter grab-and-go menu on quieter days. Hours vary by day of the week and time of year and are posted at the snack bar and on the members’ site. Severe weather can close it for the day, and members are emailed when it does.

Yes. A member must be with their guests on the grounds, and guests are signed in at the snack bar (or the guest book when it is closed) every day they visit, for everything from lunch to the courts.

Guests may visit up to three times a season; family members up to five. Paid social events and boating excursions that start and end at the dock are exempt. Members’ children aged 30 or older who use the club more than five times a season take out their own membership. Extended family visits: talk to Membership.

Yes, subject to space. Dock slips are for motorboats (assigned to a specific member and never guaranteed); beach spaces are for sailboats, Sunfish, catamarans and canoes. Apply with the boat application on page 2 of the membership form; slips are not reserved without one.

2026 season fees: beach space $150; dock slip $350 (unpowered or under 15 HP) or $950 (over 15 HP or wider than 7 ft), plus 6% CT sales tax. Boats are kept at the owner’s risk, a life jacket is required for every person aboard, and there is a no-wake zone within 100 ft of the club.

Membership is by application and Board approval, and the club is small, so some categories fill up. If a category is full when you apply, Membership will tell you where you stand and when to expect an opening.

There is a members’ parking lot on the grounds at 268 Twin Lakes Road. It is also the one place at the club where phone calls are welcome, along with the upper lawn beside it.

The beach, the lifeguarded swimming area, the docks and float, club kayaks, paddleboards and rowboats, the two tennis courts and pickleball, the clubhouse and porch, and the season’s social calendar. The snack bar runs on a house account against an annual minimum, and there is an annual social minimum.

Dues, the initiation fee and other required fees are listed on the membership application form.

Family (two adults and a child up to 22, with additional children and a nanny as add-ons), Couple, Individual, Junior (members’ children aged 23–30), Senior and Senior Couple (65+, ten consecutive years), and Super Senior (85+). Current dues for each are on the membership application form.

Email tlbcmembers@gmail.com, visit as a member’s guest, send in the application, and the Board reviews it. The four steps are laid out on the Membership page.

Children under 12 must be with a member adult or a babysitter responsible for them, and parents supervise their own children at the waterfront and on the swings — the lifeguards watch swimmers in the marked area, not the beach. Older kids and teens come and go on their own all summer.

It is a family club first. Pets are not allowed on the grounds. Phone calls happen in the parking area and upper lawn, not on the beach, porch or courts, and ringers stay on silent. The club does not sell alcohol; members may bring their own, and nobody underage drinks on the premises.
